UAIT Hope Goat
& Sheep Project
Building Sustainable Institutional Self-Reliance Through Livestock Farming
Turning available campus land into a living engine for institutional income, practical youth learning, and long-term self-reliance.
About the Project
Not a classroom exercise.
A working campus asset.
UAIT is developing goat and sheep farming as an income-generating initiative to strengthen institutional financial sustainability and operational self-reliance.
Through careful livestock development, responsible land use, transparent partnerships, and practical learning, this initiative will generate lasting value for UAIT and the young people and communities it serves. It is deliberately separate from UAIT’s academic Programs.
Our Available Land
Room for responsible growth.
UAIT is activating available land in two countries to build a practical and sustainable livestock initiative.
Approximately 10 acres available for sheep farming, grazing, livestock facilities, and future project development.
Why livestock, why now
Small herds.
Serious horizons.
Across Rwanda and Tanzania, livestock can translate patient daily care into resilient household and institutional value. UAIT’s land offers a place to test that model with discipline: good records, humane care, local knowledge, and a clear path from first animals to a productive herd.
Every improvement becomes a lesson. Every lesson can become confidence, livelihood, and service.

The first phase
Two landscapes, one shared plan.
From Bugesera to Tanzania, the work is grounded in place and designed to grow with local partners.

Project Objectives
One project. Four commitments.
Livestock Development
Develop healthy goat and sheep herds through responsible breeding, animal welfare, good records, and attentive daily care.
Institutional Self-Reliance
Create a dependable income-generating asset that strengthens UAIT’s financial sustainability and supports its wider mission.
Sustainable Farming
Use available land responsibly through locally appropriate farming methods, measured growth, and long-term stewardship.
Youth Empowerment
Equip young people with practical skills in animal care, farm management, enterprise, teamwork, and sustainable livelihoods.

A beginning worth tending
From a gift of two goats to a shared future.
The project’s Rwanda story includes a generous donation of two goats to the UAIT Bugesera campus. That gift became a clear invitation: care for what is entrusted to us, learn from the land, and make the next step possible for someone else.
It is a modest beginning with an institutional ambition — to turn practical stewardship into opportunity that lasts.
