KIGALI, RWANDA — On 30th April 2026, the United African Institute of Technology held its New Student Orientation Day for the incoming 2026-2027 intake at the UAIT Main Hall. The event brought together newly admitted students, faculty members, department heads, and UAIT leadership for an afternoon dedicated to welcoming the newest members of the UAIT community and preparing them for the journey ahead.

The orientation began at 2:00 PM and covered everything a new student needs to know before starting their studies — from UAIT's mission and vision, to the details of the upcoming 2026-2027 academic intake, campus rules and regulations, and a guided tour of the campus facilities.

Introducing UAIT's Mission and Vision

The program opened with remarks from UAIT leadership, introducing new students to the institution's mission and vision. The Deputy Vice Chancellor addressed the students directly, walking them through the 2026-2027 student list by department and introducing the UAIT team members who would be supporting them throughout their studies — including faculty from the AI Technology, Jewelry Design, Piano Academy, and Korean Language departments, as well as academic and administrative staff.

The General Manager also addressed the new students, followed by a presentation from the Academic and Admissions Administration Officer covering the practical details students need to know as they begin their academic year.

Meeting the Departments

New students had the opportunity to meet the faculty who will guide them through their chosen programs. In the Jewelry Design Department, students were introduced to the program by their instructor, while Professor Sang-il Hwang of the AI Technology department, Korean Language professors, and the Piano Academy's Korean professor were all present to welcome their incoming students. Students were also grouped by department for a closer, more personal introduction to what their specific program of study would involve.

The AI Technology and Computer Class students got a hands-on introduction to UAIT's online classes and computer lab, guided by UAIT professors, giving them a first look at the digital tools and learning environment they will be using throughout their studies.

Campus Tour

A highlight of the day was the guided campus tour led by the General Manager, where students walked through UAIT's workshops and facilities, seeing firsthand the equipment and spaces where their practical, hands-on learning would take place. The tour gave new students a real sense of what a typical day at UAIT looks like beyond the classroom.

Rules, Regulations, and What Comes Next

Orientation Day also covered the essential rules and regulations that guide student life at UAIT, ensuring every new student starts their journey with a clear understanding of expectations, academic policies, and campus conduct. Lecturers and academic staff attended throughout the day, available to answer questions and connect with the students they would soon be teaching.
